LSJ - Weekend Reads

Two articles, one workout, one request.

Hi Everyone,

Happy Friday! Thanks for spending part of it reading The Lake Street Journal.

I'm in Myrtle Beach playing golf this weekend, so it felt appropriate to share one of my favorite golf articles.

Even if you're not a golfer, I think this one will improve your outlook on the world.

That article about assholes is really about the stories we tell ourselves.

It pairs nicely with this piece from Billy Oppenheimer, also about the stories we tell ourselves.

One of the key tenets of Stoicism is that we don't always control what happens to us, but we can always control our reaction to it. We can control how we tell the story. How we frame the situation. How we respond and, hopefully, overcome.

This piece is definitely Stoicism in disguise, but sometimes that's the best way to hear it.

Learning About AI Agents

I might be late to the party here, but I'm interested in learning about AI agents. If this is something you've explored, send me your favorite resources.

I'm most interested in articles and videos explaining how to build them, best use cases and limitations, and what tools to use and why.

Thanks for your help! I'll share what I learn.

Workout of the Week

As the name suggests, you'll feel this one in your forearms, but it smokes your lower back too.

"Grips of Wrath"

12 minute AMRAP

  • 6 pull-ups

  • 9 deadlifts (165)

  • 12 Russian kettlebell swings (70)

Six rounds should be pretty easy here, and I think that's a good goal. Much faster and you risk a tweaked back from bad form and fatigue. I did 6 rounds plus 6 reps.

Quote of the Week

"The one quality that can be developed by studious reflection and practice is the leadership of men." - Dwight D. Eisenhower
