Shawn Puri's wisdom, Larry David's failures, and Sam Parr's musings.

Hi Everyone,
Happy Friday! Thanks for spending part of it reading The Lake Street Journal.
I've been a fan of the My First Million podcast for a long time, but I love when Shaan, one of the hosts, guests on other shows. He's great at telling stories, and he's generally just a really interesting person to listen to and learn from.
I particularly enjoyed the discussion on greatness. It's fun to study and learn from people who are great, but it's much less fun to be a great person—meaning the best in the world at something—because the cost of greatness is so high.
If you want some thought provoking conversation this weekend, this is the podcast episode for you.
Larry David is one of the creators of one of the best shows in television history: Seinfeld.
This is a great profile of David, a man who, before Seinfeld, was generally regarded as a failure. If you enjoyed Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, you'll enjoy this piece.
Sam Parr, the other host of the My First Million podcast, just started writing a weekly newsletter, and I've been enjoying it.
The first part is generally a story about an interesting person he knows or some entrepreneurship lesson he's learned. The rest is a curation of interesting content. Sam has great taste, and I find myself clicking pretty much every link in the newsletter.
Give it a read. I think you'll enjoy it.
Song of the Week
I discovered this Dylan Gossett song this week, and I really love it. I think it's about the simple joys of being a kid and how those days fly by. I've been listening on repeat, thinking about my childhood while watching my kids live theirs.
Quote of the Week
"The slowest days seem to be gone too fast." - Dylan Gossett
